LGC scientists present at Winter Conference on Plasma Spectrochemistry

LGC's Inorganic Analysis Team were well represented at the 2017 European Winter Conference on Plasma Spectrochemistry in St Anton, Austria, presenting a wide range of work performed in our role as the National Measurement Laboratory.

Science Fellow Heidi Goenaga Infante, Principal Scientist & Team Leader of the Inorganic Analysis Team, gave an invited lecture in the Metrology Session of the conference highlighting challenges around the production of “speciated” reference materials. She also chaired the session on Isotope Ratio Analysis and led the Young Scientist Career Event panel dedicated to guiding young scientists to pursue a successful career.

Raquel Larios was selected as an “emerging talent” panellist for a workshop organised by Agilent Technologies on new methods and workflows developed using their state-of-the-art mass spectrometry technology (QQQ-ICP-MS). She also presented a poster on an approach to achieving metrological traceability of digital PCR measurements through phosphorous quantification by inorganic mass spectrometry.

Two further oral presentations were given: Christian Deitrich presented a novel absolute quantification method for the bio-marker selenoprotein P in the Speciation Session and Dmitriy Malinovsky presented work on species-specific mercury isotope ratio measurement in fish in the Isotope Ratio Analysis session.
