What does your role at LGC entail?

During my PhD I have built up a solid expertise in material characterisation. In particular, I have extensively performed gas (N2 and CO2) sorption analysis, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), thermal analysis (TGA and DSC) and Fourier Transform-Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) on raw biomass and biomass-derived products. Here at LGC I have been using the same techniques, as well as inverse gas chromatography (iGC) and dynamic vapour sorption (DVS), for quality control of pharmaceutical products.

What do you most enjoy about your role?
Lab work can sometimes be hard but fun at the same time. Though, the thing I enjoy the most is interacting with clients, especially when the testing I perform and the results I get turn out to be helpful for them.

What has been your proudest moment at LGC?
Being cheered was probably one of the proudest moments for me at LGC so far. It was not just for the reward itself (which is always good anyway) but also because my work was acknowledged as brilliant and helpful, and this motivates me to do even better. Also, presenting a poster in a prestigious conference such as DDL in 2017 was a significant achievement as it was the first time LGC Sandwich had presented in that event.

"I am really keen on the idea of promoting interaction within different departments and therefore networking with other colleagues as this enhances the quality of the service the company is able to deliver."
