Supply chain assurance
In increasingly complex global supply chains, retailers and manufacturers seek solutions to support consistent quality and safety criteria, while providing them with better visibility on any potential quality or authenticity issues, as well as environmental and ethical concerns.
We have a long history of providing advisory and scientific support services to UK Government to assist with emerging measurement challenges (as the UK National Measurement Laboratory for chemical and bio-measurement), resolving disputes which hinge on interpretation of scientific evidence (through our UK Government Chemist work), acting as a National Reference Laboratory and assisting with incident response (during, for example, the UK BSE crisis in the early 2000s or the horsemeat scandal of 2013).
We have also used our scientific capabilities in drug surveillance and knowledge of the international sports community to develop the Informed Sport and Informed Choice certification programmes, which provide confidence to sports supplements manufacturers, sports associations / regulators, endorsing athletes and end consumers that their products are free from banned contaminants.
Finally, BRCGS – a subsidiary of LGC – is a leading brand and consumer protection organisation whose standards (Food Safety, Consumer Products, Packaging and Packaging Materials, Storage and Distribution, Agents and Brokers, Gluten-Free, Plant-Based, Ethical and Retail) are used by over 28,000 certificated suppliers in more than 130 countries around the world.
