ParaDNA® Body Fluid ID Test

The ParaDNA Body Fluid ID Test delivers a presence/absence result on each of 6 bodily fluids within 90 minutes of processing crime stains/swabs, and even lab derived DNA extracts (protocol dependant). A next-gen serology option that can be used as either a screening test, or as a confirmatory result.

ParaDNA Body Fluid ID Test results output

Four samples being viewed in the software
  • Simultaneously detect for the presence of 6 bodily fluids with a single test
    • Vaginal fluid, seminal fluid, sperm cells, saliva, blood and menstrual blood
  • First commercially available kit to offer a reliable confirmatory test for vaginal fluids
  • Fast, easy to run and easy to interpret test results
    • No lab based extraction techniques required
    • Single use collection device inserted straight into test
    • Sample crime stains directly with only 5 minutes hands-on time
    • Sampled items are not consumed and can still be sent for further forensic processing
  • Reduce time consuming and demanding presumptive testing (serology) approaches
  • Begin identifying fluids at scene, plus screen out samples not suitable for laboratory processing

  • Use to confirm fluid type post 'direct-to-DNA'
    • Extracted DNA can be added directly into test plate (protocol dependant)
  • Minimal training requirement to get up and running
  • Shares instrument platform with other tests; rung body fluid ID, DNA screening and intelligence tests on the same instrument, at the same time
  • Uses patented HyBeacon probe technology to target human specific mRNAs

Sampling procedure

RNA is recovered using LGC’s patented ParaDNA Sample Collector, provided individually packaged and treated/quality checked to ensure they are RNA/DNA free. Collectors can be used to sample crime stains directly, or to indirectly sample from swabbed material. The ParaDNA Sample Collector design allows the user to accomplish sampling with four nibs that combine into one. Once sampling is complete a collar on the collector is pulled back to separate the nibs, which are then loaded into a ParaDNA Intelligence Test plate. This creates a sealed system, which once placed on a ParaDNA Instrument, delivers detection and analysis in just 87 minutes.
