LGC instruments support important milestones

Following the installation of LGC’s Nexar workflow in the Rosalind Franklin lab earlier this year, we’re delighted to update that the lab has recently passed the one million tests landmark.

The Nexar workflow, an example of which was set up in the Rosalind Franklin lab as part of the NHS Test and Trace laboratory network in order to detect SARS-CoV-2 virus, enables the highest PCR testing capacity per system worldwide.

Meanwhile, LGC’s instruments have also supported UC Davis’s asymptomatic testing programme, which the college needed to be easy to take, quick to deliver results and as inexpensive as possible, in order to get their students back to campus and to keep the broader community safe. Impressively, this programme has also just registered one million tests.

In addition, LGC, Biosearch Technologies has filed for Emergency Use Authorization with the FDA of its ultra-high-throughput RT-PCR testing system that can screen symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals. It works with a dry swab collection device that’s automatable for bulk accessioning and uses extraction-free sample processing.

This testing system - capable of processing between 5,000 and 110,000 completed samples per 24 hours - is supporting Northwell Health’s fight against COVID-19. This is a major installation of our Nexar-based workflow in the U.S. and has the potential to change the U.S. COVID-19 testing landscape.

Mark Dearden, Managing Director, LGC, Genomics, said, “We’re proud to be supporting each of these magnificent achievements. LGC’s validated technology demonstrates gold-standard sensitivity and specificity based on clinical data, as well as material cost and time savings.”
