Tell me a bit about yourself

I am a public health specialist trained in medical anthropology with over 15 years global health and research experience in public, academic and voluntary sectors, with a strong interest in narrowing the gap between health policy and practice.

What does your job entail?

I am currently leading NIHR’s commitment to partnering with patients, carers and public/communities in all the health and care research it supports, both in the United Kingdom (UK) and Lower Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).

I undertake extensive engagements across NIHR Coordinating Centre, multinational agencies and other research funders, and engagement with researchers and research delivery workforces, in academic and NHS institutions in the UK and LMICs, and with patients and the public. Championing the adoption of novel and relevant approaches for public member involvement in health and care research.

What do you most like about LGC?

I like LGC’s supportive and collaborative culture for staff, which encourages everyone to push beyond boundaries and achieve meaningful outcomes for both the individual and the organisation. The flexible working and extra support for staff during the pandemic was well received.

Best advice for new employees?
