Fay, Senior Public Involvement Manager

Tell me a bit about yourself.

I am a carer, a parent and I work part time.

I joined the NIHR in April 2020. Prior to this, I led on patient and public involvement in a cancer alliance. Part of my brief there focused on reducing health inequalities in the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller community.

I was also co-founder and director of an advocacy organisation overseeing patient care complaints against the NHS and social services. In addition, I have led on various community engagement projects in the legal sector and in further education.

What does your job entail?

My work primarily involves building public partnerships to eliminate health inequalities in research. This includes providing advice and guidance on how to best engage diverse communities.

What do you most like about LGC?

The opportunities to initiate, lead and provide insights to diverse areas of work.

What is your proudest moment at LGC?

Establishing the Race Equality Public Action Group, and subsequently co-producing a Race Equality Framework, which is being trialled by 16 research organisations.
