Infra red analysis

Moving images

This image is taken in the mid-infrared, 3-5 micron band and depicts warm returns as black. The cockpit and engine intakes are clearly warmer than the rest of the aircraft and clear changes in temperature are evident as the wheels touchdown. The jet efflux pattern also alters as reverse thrust is engaged.

White hot

Thermal returns are recorded as white on this image of Tower Bridge, which has been taken in the mid infrared range of 3–5 microns. Vehicles on the bridge are clearly visible, as are vessels on the river. Thermal reflections of the bridge in the river can also be seen.

Black hot

This mid-infrared image shows a view of the new stadium under construction at Wembley. Here, warm objects are recorded in black showing work taking place on the stadium floor with the steel structures giving a relatively cold return.
