Technical Sales Specialist

LGC provides a range of measurement products and services which underpin the safety, health and security of the public, including reference materials and proficiency testing, genomics reagents and instrumentation, and expert sample analysis and interpretation. Our customers are across a number of end markets including Pharmaceuticals, Agricultural Biotechnology, Food, Environment, Government and Academia.

Job purpose:
The technical sales specialist sales role would be responsible for achieving sales targets by following up on inbound leads and generating new opportunities through inside sales activities. This individual will attend trade shows and conferences as well as travel to visit customers.  The successful candidate should have knowledge of inorganic elemental analysis laboratory process and needs. The ideal candidate will have a background as an application specialist and or sales for analytical instrumentation company.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Achieving sales targets for reference materials and equipment
  • Following up on inbound leads and generating new leads through outbound activities (cold calling, site visits, e-mails)
  • Generating quotes and maintaining customer details in the CRM database
  • Identify new market opportunities or product needs to feed back into product development
  • Exemplify the LGC core values on a day to day basis
  • Perform other duties as required
Education, Experience, and Technical Skills:
  • BA/BS or MS is chemistry, geology or related science preferred
  • Understanding of inorganic elemental analysis techniques(XRF, OE, ICP)
  • Prior experience in sales of analytical equipment or reference materials is a plus
 Personal Specification:
  •  Excellent verbal and communication skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work as an effective part of a team
