Personal development is a priority at LGC, which starts the day you join us, with a comprehensive induction programme, and lasts throughout your time with us.
Taking responsibility for your own development, you are supported with regular, open and honest discussions with your line manager. You will discuss how well you are doing, what you have achieved, what your objectives are (through our performance development review process) and you will agree what is required to help you reach your maximum potential.
Most of your learning will be from on-the-job training and exposing you to situations that will not only take advantage of your current skills but provide opportunities to enrich them.
Our Academy programme (our inhouse learning and development scheme which changes to reflect the needs of our employees) provides a blended learning approach to the development of your management and leadership skills, with ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management) accreditation awarded to several of our programmes. Scientific development will be managed by your team leader.
We recognise high potential staff through the talent development route and succession planning. The importance of these key players is underpinned by the support provided by the Executive Leadership Team.
The use of social networking and a company intranet site to share good practice, knowledge, skills and information across the Group is important to our continued development and growth, with various business network groups set up to focus on specific issues. One of these business network groups is a mentoring database, where experienced colleagues from across the Group are available to provide support.
