LGC Genomics ranked number one again in DNA sequencing survey
26 Feb 2013
LGC Genomics has been ranked top in an international survey for DNA sequencing
for the second time. The SQ 2/12 technical performance survey, compiled by DGKL
(Deutsche Vereinte Gesellschaft für klinische Chemie und Laboratoriumsmedizin e.V.), in December 2012, asked participants to sequence PCR products
and analyse the resulting sequencing data for accuracy and read length.
Knut Mohr, Commercial Manager of the LGC Genomics sequencing unit in Berlin, said, “Being ranked the best out of 55 sequencing facilities and topping the survey again in 2012 is a fantastic result for our team. We are delighted with the recognition of the work we do both for our own staff and for our customers. We have many years of experience in sequencing and following the merger with KBioscience in 2011 not only can we offer the very highest levels of quality in our sequencing laboratories but we can also support other elements for customer’s projects in extraction and genotyping is further proof of our high quality and long-standing expertise in DNA sequencing”.
A total of 55 laboratories from 19 countries participated in the survey. The participants were each given two PCR products and associated primer sets and asked to sequence the PCR products and analyse the resulting sequencing data in order to generate concordant DNA sequence data and the longest read lengths. The results from each laboratory were ranked according to accuracy and read length. LGC Genomics achieved the highest score for overall technical performance.
