LGC works with ITV’s This Morning to highlight Forensic Science

19 Nov 2012

ITV’s This Morning recently ran “Crime Week” and LGC was invited to devise a crime scene and provide forensic expertise.

Tracy Alexander, Case Review Manager with LGC Forensics, walked hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield through the scene, highlighting potential evidence such as blood spatter, footwear marks, fingerprints, digital and DNA evidence, as well as explaining a little bit of background to drugs analysis including a demonstration of the Marquis test using a reagent and a control.

Other contributions to the Crime Week came from the Prime Minister, the Home Secretary, Mark Williams-Thomas and the brother of the Yorkshire Ripper as well as a nationwide survey on crime.

LGC Forensics offers a comprehensive range of forensic science services, based on an extensive range of techniques. As well as those techniques outlined by Tracy in the studio, our scientists use the latest innovations - often developed in-house - to establish the facts of cases under investigation.
